Couple slain in Pattani, niece injured

PATTANI - A couple were shot dead and their niece injured by two suspected insurgents in Nong Chik district on Monday, police said.

The attack occurred when Somprasong Jindamanee and his wife Tassanee were in theibon Tuyong at about 3.30pm. 

Two men arrived on a motorcycle and the pillion rider posed as a customer. He fired at the couple, killing them at the scene, and then shot their niece, Yuppadee sae Ong, 20. 

Acting Pattani police chief Pol Col Piyawat Chalermsri, who inspected the crime scene, said police were tracking the suspects. He believed the shooting was related to southern insurgency.
