Insurgents in the deep South launched a coordinated series of bomb attacks Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Early reports indicated there were no casualties in at least eight attacks in three provinces - Songkhla, Narathiwat and Yala.

Attacks appeared to be centred on ATM machines at petrol stations in Thepa district of Songkhla, and Nong Chik in Narathiwat, the reports said.

A bridge was burnt and tyres set alight in the streets in a Yala attack, an Internal Security Operations Command (Isoc) spokesman reported.
