PATTANI -- A man was shot dead from ambush while returning home in Nong Chik district late on Sunday night, police said.
Pol Lt Col Sompong Rongyang, chief investigator of Nong Chik police, said the attack occurred about 11.30pm on a road in Ban Pia in tambon Dato.
Usman Chemama, 30, was returning home on a motorcycle when he was shot with an AK47 rifle by an attacker hiding on the roadside. He was hit in the neck and later taken to Yarang Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police were investigating.
