PATTANI - A man was killed and his elder sister seriously wounded in a gun attack in Mae Lan district on Thursday morning, police said.
Pol Capt Sompong Kongkaew, a Mae Lan police investigator, said while Hassanai Chaiphan and his elder sister Rungratana Prainu, the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA)'s local hires, were reading electricity metres and recording the power usage at Moo 5 village in tambon Muang Tia, they were fired at by a number of attackers.
The incident occurred at about 9am.
Hassanai was killed on the spot, while Ms Rungratana was seriously injured. The attackers then fled on the motorcycle of the two siblings.
Police were hunting the suspects.
