Cambodia is reported to have deployed six tanks and a large number of troops along its border with Thailand near Preah Vihear temple on Friday morning.

It was also reported that Thai troops have built 20 large bunkers to strengthen their positions on the border against any Cambodian troop incursions.

Chief of the Sao Thong Chai Tambon Administrative Organisation in Si Sa Ket’s Kantharaluck district, Boonmee Buatan, said he had warned people to refrain from traveling to border area near the ancient Khmer temple.

He was also in touch with state agencies in case people needed evacuating if there was any fighting.

    For democracy to work, the country and its people must respect and obey laws that also include international law unless thailand think it also own the whole world. Thailand does not honour international law because its always been a lawless state, like how it can steal Temasek owned companies in thailand. Now it wants to steal cambodia's temple. what else thailand want to steal how about some north korean nuclear missiles to nuke every country in asia. You can steal from your own family and friends but do not steal from neighbour, they may not be so forgiving. Anyway, thailand has never ever fought any conventional wars so it will loose more than land around the temple if it cambodia invades.

    When there is so many things to take care of in Thailand,- why, and how can the politicians spend time and money on an unnecessary case like this. This is far to stupid. This make me feel ashamed just because I have interest in the country. It makes me feel stupid carry on loving thai and Thailand.

    I would not try and be too cocky if I were Thai over this "little" problem.Look back in history and it says who belongs to the temple.Thailand, you would get your butt kicked if you started a conflict with the Khmer's and they would have support from many countries,as you are not in a lot of counties hearts at the moment.Be very careful!

    I'd think twice before confronting the Cambodian Army. I know. I've been there and I've done that. I love Thailand, but in this case, Cambodia is 100% correct.

    Everybody get a hug and stop this stupid stuff. People should be able to enjoy this site like I did a few years ago. I wish both countries would just settle down and work together. I guess that is to much to ask for because everybody is right and nobody will take a step back! Forget what happened 500 yrs ago and get on with today!

    #9/Bassa - you are right !

    #7/Empire strikes back - the Khmer were Hindu ! It was built as a Hindu Temple, by the Khmer. Hinduism is a religion, the Khmer were/are a People ! The Temple is to worship God/Religion, not people ;}

    How can you say that Thailand causes all the problem???
    if you wanna look at the real cause, you should look back to the past, the France came.
    At that time France make anoter map, which included the temple(only the temple, not the area) to khmer's territory.. and what then?? from now on there are 2 maps, one in khmer's hand and one in Thailand's hand! so what now??? the unesco said the preah vihear belongs to Khmer!! Ok.. then take your temple, but not the area around. Tell your troop to stand only around the temple then.
    the border of two countries is behind the khmer's troops.. where the khmer's troops are standing right now, is the territory of Thailand.

    The problem caused by Thailand(sending troops to the border on 17-Jul-2008 after UNESCO list Preah Vihear. If Thailand withdraw their troops back the problem finish!

    I'm sick and tired of those reporters who refer to Preah Vihear as a Hindu temple. Preah Vihear is a Khmer temple, period. They should report as such. It was built by successive Khmer kings.
