A married couple was shot dead in an ambush on a local road at Huay Ngo village in Pattani’s Khoke Pho district early Wednesday morning, Pol Col Krissada Kaewchandee, the Khoke Pho police chief, said.
The ambush took place about 3.30am while Surasak Kiatkaew, 50, and his wife Kanueng, 52, were on a motorcycle heading to their rubber plantation. They were shot in the head and body and died at the scene, according to police.
Police believed separatist militants were responsible.
