A military intelligence officer has been shot and killed by suspected insurgents in central Yala.

Sgt Maj 1st Class Metha Peng-o, 49, of the 5th Infantry Company's intelligence department, was riding a motorbike from his military camp to downtown Yala yesterday when he was gunned down by two gunmen on another motorcycle.
