Six home-made bombs were found and disposed of at three spots in Lat Krabang area in eastern Bangkok early Friday morning after the arrest of a suspect in the Government Lottery Office (GLO) bombs case.

Police said a home-made bomb was placed by the wall of the Bangkok Bank's Sukhumvit 77 branch (Prawet) in Soi Lat Krabang 20.

At the second spot, two bombs were found at the entrance to Soi Kanchanaphisek 39.

At the third spot, three bombs were found at a U-turn under a bridge across Khlong Nong Prue opposite Suvarnabhumi market in Soi Lat Krabang 13.

Meanwile, the office of obvious has released a press announcement asking the tourism authority not to release press announcments asking the security agencies about bombs being planted in bkk.

Meanwhile, the Tourism and Sports Ministry has asked security agencies to be more careful in giving out news about bombs being planted in Bangkok, because it could affect tourism. Would this fall under the “Unseen Thailand” promotional? Or maybe a new campaign called “Uncaring Thailand”?If a tourist was injured or blown-up, would the Tourism and Sports Ministry try to conceal it? As one poster stated, bombs are a daily and ignored happening in the south of Thailand and becoming NOT that unusual in Bangkok. Maybe Tourism and Sports could claim it is a new sport and try to sell it to the adventuresome.

Bombs being planted in and around Bangkok; protests outside the US Embassy ....It is breaking my heart to see this happening in Thailand.

Not to worry, as embassies have already informed their respective governments and are monitoring the situation carefully. They will warn their people even if the Thai government does not.

I thought that was common practice , bombs and grenades going off in the City ?
I mean it was an almost Daily Occurance When the Dems Were in ?
Didn`t seem to worry them (ptp) back then ?

Why not give out bomb news to the general public?

Which is more important; is it having more uninformed tourists who could end up being killed by bombs, or informing tourists about potential danger spots, so they'll know how to thread?

One never know what the deputy would utter out of his mouth, since he is very good at that. The tourism has to make sure to have the damage control team go after every announcenment done by him.

I find the following comments from Officials disturbing.
Meanwhile, the Tourism and Sports Ministry has asked security agencies to be more careful in giving out news about bombs being planted in Bangkok, because it could affect tourism.
Spokesman Watchara Kannika said the ministry is especially worried about news reported by foreign news agencies.
He was speaking in a press conference today following the discovery of six home-made bombs in eastern Bangkok.
"Relevant agencies," Mr Watchara said, "had better work carefully and quietly. They should not tell of their actions officially."
Save face, profits & don't worry about lives, is the message. You can keep the truth from the locals, but not from the World.
