FM displeased over terror alerts

The Foreign Ministry will summon the American, Canadian and Australian ambassadors to clarify their issuance of travel alerts due to possible terror attacks in Bangkok after the arrest on Thursday of a member of the Hizbollah militant group.

Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul said on Saturday he felt disappointed that the US, Canadian and Australian embassies in Bangkok had issued warnings to their citizens of possible terrorist attacks in the capital without discussing the issue with the Thai Foreign Ministry first. He said the move would affect Thailand’s tourism industry and confidence in its public security.

He said the ministry would send letters to the American, Canadian and Australian ambassadors, seeking explanations about the issuance of the warnings before taking counter-measures.

This knob needs to get his own house in order before mouthing off to other nations. Sort out the south, sort out the drainage, sort out the drug trade, sort out human trafficking, sort out trade in body parts, sort out corruption, sort out jailing old men for 20 years on spurious allegations, sort out education...is that enough for today? Then start on the rest of the stuff tomorrow and then maybe you will have the priorities sorted and then go to the embassies of the nations who provide the tourists. Knob!

I'm surprised the Thai government didn't know that terrorists do not discriminate between victims, whoever gets in the way gets hurt. I guarantee if a bomb had gone off more Thais than foreigners would be killed or hurt. Yet the Thai government chose to keep this a secret from it's own people.

Because the Thai's tend to dislike informing their people about the simplest of things..and the said countries care about their people abroad and have a much better trusted agents and seem able to know what the bad people are doing and where!
