PM assures security for tourists

Thailand is confident it can provide security for public places as well as for tourists, Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra said today.

Ms Yingluck was speaking before presiding over the first mobile cabinet meeting at the Bank of Thailand's branch office in Chiang Mai.

She was referring to travel warnings issued by the United States and 10 other countries following the arrest of Atris Hussein, a Swedish-Lebanese man with suspected links to the Hezbollah militant group, by Thai police at Suvarnabhumi Airport on Friday.

So, Yingluck is confident Thailand can provide security in public places as well for tourists... If it's anything like that which resulted in the as yet unsolved killings in Bangkok and the murder of tourists throughout Thailand, she'd better have a closer look at what she's got to back up her claim... It's just a load of self grandeuring political drivel designed to embue confidence where none exists and as long as she's in power - never bloody will.

A good Prime minister should be a good manager and good at finding the right combination of people for the different departments, beside from that the PM should with the executive committee set up the goals (election promises) and then follow up in their progress and implementation ... a PM does not have to be a specialist in anything..just be a good leader with good people skills... and of course be an asset for the party when the election comes .

Never forget that yingluck had all these so called experts who gave her advice about the flooding and now about security in thailand. She is just telling people what she is being told when she asks the security people what they are doing about this problem. She tells the heads of the security departments do something about this, and inform me what you are going to do about it.Do not blame yingluck, blame the so called experts that give the information to her. They are the ones at fault by the missinformation that they give her. As for hezbollah, they are a political organisation not a terrorist organisation.

I'd be surprised if these comments actually spewed out of yinglucks mouth. Traditionally she never speaks if it involves her job. More likey one of her press crew made this up to make it look like mom is working.

    Discussion 1,
I agree with you, the less she speaks the better for her. Her declarations about floods prove that she better not speak.

Re. tourist arrivals: the spectacular pictures of the (late) floods, led to plenty of cancellations and will affect next years tourist season much more than a lone Hezbollah. Agents will, most likely, shy away from buying contingents in 2012 after loosing money in 2011.

    That's a bold statement.

Even more so if you look at the escallation in the number of murders in the south and that fact that at least 1 suspect is still at large.
