Village chief slain in Narathiwat

A village headman was killed in a drive-by shooting in Narathiwat’s Rangae district on Tuesday morning, Pol Capt Nares Phumkaew, duty officer at Rangae police station, said.

Police received the report of the shooting about 10am. They found the dead body of Ni Laengoh, 57, village chief of Ban Bango Kubo, near his motorcycle.

Ni was driving his bike to attend a monthly meeting at Rangae district office on a rural road in his village when a gunman on a pickup truck fired on him with an AK47 assault rifle.
