A rubber tapper was killed and his wife seriously injured in an ambush in Narathiwat’s Sungai Padi district early Tuesday morning, police said.
Upon receiving a report of the shooting about 3.50am, Pol Lt Pongeke Chanta, a duty officer at Sungai Padi Police station, led a team of policemen to the incident scene.
Police found the body of Witthaya Rattanakul, 53, a resident of moo 1 in tambon Todeng of Sungai Padi. He was shot three times in his back and died at the spot. His wife, Wanna, took three bullets in her leg and hip and was taken to hospital by nearby villagers.
