Two slain in Narathiwat attacks

A man was gunned down while drinking tea with his friends and a rubber tapper was murdered in an ambush in the southern border province of Narathiwat on Tuesday morning.

Police said Asi Masila, 39, was killed at a teashop in Narathiwat's Si Sakhon district.

He was drinking tea with three friends when two unidentified men on a motorcycle fired at them with a 9mm pistol and then fled, police said.

Asi was shot twice in the chest and died at the scene.

In Sungai Padi district, a rubber tapper was killed and his wife seriously injured in an ambush early this morning.
