Ranger killing probe to wrap up in a month

Investigations into the Jan 29 military ranger attack that left four men dead and four more wounded in Pattani should be concluded within a month, Deputy Prime Minister Yutthasak Sasiprapa said yesterday.

Two separate fact-finding panels have been set up after the incident at Ban Kayi in Nong Chik district.

The first panel was set up by the 4th Army Region to probe the deaths and clarify the rules of engagement for rangers. Another fact-finding committee has been set up by Pattani governor Theera Mintharasak.

Why should they be able to conclude their investigation within one month? Do they know how long such an investigation will take? Does it take that amount of time even if more information comes to light or have they already decided what the answers will be and one month sounds like a good amount of time?
