The only thing they are really interested in is the robbers. The drug smugglers and Illegals are a source of income.

How interesting, and how typical, that although China, Laos and Burma allow joint patrols in 'their' stretches of the Mekong river Thailand does not. Instead Thailand struggles to manage a huge stretch of waterway, with many international craft passing through presumably unchecked and unprotected.

Anybody want to guess why ? Also 'Thai territorial waters' is an odd description for a river. Is that the stretch with Laos on the other riverbank ? If so then they are joint territorial waters, not exclusively Thai or Laos.

Pity it is too shallow for a submarine, you could have solved your problem. Blame your new best friends for draining the river, the way it is going soon you will not even need boats, some ATV's and wellington boots will be enough.
