Bombers 'part of terror group'

Diplomat links blasts to India, Georgia attacks

The suspects involved in Tuesday's multiple bombings in Bangkok were part of the same network of terror involved in bomb incidents in India and Georgia earlier this week, according to Itzhak Shoham, Israeli ambassador to Thailand.

ABOVE Explosives experts search for clues at a bomb-damaged house off Sukhumvit 71 Road that was rented by three Iranian nationals, two of whom were detained after three blasts rocked the capital on Tuesday. SOMCHAI POOMLARD
INSET Rohani Leila, an Iranian woman who left Thailand on Feb 5, is wanted by police in connection with the blasts.

While the target of the bombs was not clear, "we can assume from the other experiences that we were the target," he said.

mr.meldrew D28 - "Then why did the taxi driver refuse one of them a ride because he was covered in blood and anyway what's your point?"
None of the three bombers were refused a taxi ride, and none were covered in blood after the house bomb went off. Witnesses said one person had 'blooding coming out of his ears' - hardly 'covered in blood' as you claim. Two easily got a taxi, and the taxi driver who was hit by a grenade said he didn't stop to pick up a passenger.

Perhaps it's semantics, but is a bomber accidentally blowing up his own house considered an 'act of terrorism'?

AFP reports: "'These three Iranian men are an assassination team and their targets were Israeli diplomats including the ambassador,' a senior Thai intelligence official told AFP, speaking on condition of anonymity. 'Their plan was to attach bombs to diplomats’ cars.'"

Correction to my last post: only 3 of the 4 bomb suspects were in the house at the time of the incident.

johninbkk D26 : You state FYI - all four bombers who were in the house during the explosion left it with only minor scratches.".

Then why did the taxi driver refuse one of them a ride because he was covered in blood and anyway what's your point? It wasn't a big blast?

With friends like this, who needs enemies?

Another reason they are blundering along is that they are trying to cover this up, to paint a rosy picture to the rest of the world. Other countries news reports are showing this as terrorism and linking it to similar attack in India and foiled attack in Georgia.

Thai government thinking more about country image, but other countries know Thai government is not telling the truth.

Whatever this was supposed to be (terrorism, assassination, 'statement') it involved explosives, grenade attacks and in the realm of the public. This govt are loathe to use the word 'terrorism' for two reasons a) it has implications on travel warnings and travel insurance validity which will affect tourism b) 'terrorism' is a sticky word for the PTP/UDD govt since many of their supporters and even some MPs and one cabinet member stand accused of terrorism in incidents far worse than this.

Well discussion No. 9 you are wrong about Israel being at fault here by occupying the West Bank or other parts or Palestine territory. It's the same with the U.S. and NATO troops in Afganistan. When you have terrorist on foreign soil attacking your people and country, then you don't leave the territories until the attacks and terrorist stop. There can be no compromise here:) On the other part about the Thai government, Kena, Taz, Iazar, Nosurprise, Dao, and Ozman_Bkk you are all wrong! hahaha In reality the government knows that this is a serious terrorist attack on their soil, in the capital and after they have been warned, they are trying to capture the woman who rented the house so they are pretending. I think!!! :)

Ozman_BKK - the reason they are blundering along is that the ministers and police chief were all appointed as favors, not for their experience and knowledge. So, of course, they haven't a clue as to what to do.

If those bombs were meant to target only individuals, I have to ask why is that house so badly damaged? Anyone standing within 10 metres of that explosion would have been severely injured or killed. Bear in mind there were at least four of them, let loose in a crowded place, hundreds could have been killed.
