Police chief gags subordinates

All police officers who do not have direct responsibility for the investigation of last week’s central Bangkok bomb blasts have been prohibited from discussing the incident with journalists under an urgent order issued by national police chief Phrewphan Damapong.

The order was issued late Monday night, police spokesman Pol Maj Gen Piya Uthayo said on Tuesday.

It was aimed at avoiding confusion and safeguarding the investigation, security operations and international relations.

The dictatorship is back with intimidation and threats against anyone daring to speak the truth.

Well these where smart bombs, so they know the difference between a foriegner and a Thai.
Three stooges, I still laugh at them now.
After the last fiasco where all and sundry had a say to the press, he is correct in what he says. and done. As lots of different stories would come out.

    Too late.

Well that is progress...only one person speak for the Police force...as in most other places...sounds good.

It was aimed and preventing policemen from telling how inept their investigation has been so far. This is sort of like the Keystone Cops versus the Three Stooges.

This is of course the same national police chief Phrewphan Damapong who, when the terrorist bombs first blew, rushed back to Bangkok from Chaingmai to make the statement in an attempt to calm Thais, that the bombs were “intended for foreign nationals”. This had zero calming effect on any Thai people, instilled concern in the foreign nationals (tourists) and had all who heard these words wonder about Damapongs selection as the new national police chief. He should have gagged himself back then or at least thought out what he was going to say before speaking.
