PM expresses deep regret

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on Sunday morning expressed her deep regrets to the families of those killed and wounded in car bombs that hit Yala and Hat Yai district of Songkhla on Saturday.

She said Pol Gen Priewpan Damapong, the police chief, left for the South on Saturday to inspect the scenes of the bomb blasts and coordinate work with provincial governors.

More police will be deployed at public places to provide security in coordination with the military.

"Mr Abhisit said it was now time for the government to review its policies towards the insurgency in the South to better cope with the situation which had become more violent."
There is no evidence that the southern situation has become more violent. On average, there are 20 deaths per month from it. The recent bombing resulted in about 20 deaths.

"When asked if the government had obtained information related to the two incidents and whether foreigners were involved, Ms Yingluck said she would rather not make any disclosure that could obstruct the work of the authorities." Better say you have no clue!

Yingluck is like an electronic robot that Thaksin's trying to operate by remote control from afar and although he's had varying degrees of success, - they've all been to Thailand's detriment.

Disc. Same as refusing to recognise as terrorists those who tried to burn down Bangkok in 2009.

She was regretful about the flood mismanagement. And the Iranian terror gang. And the rising food costs. And now the bomb blasts in Hat Yai.

Doesn't Thailand deserve action rather than a regretful PM? But wait... give her time. She's still learning on the job!

Nine different government agencies engage in intelligence gathering, with no systematic means of pooling and analyzing the information they collect, none of which comes from people within the heart of the insurgency.

The south needs southern solutions with locals included in the decision making .Not deep regrets .
