A village defence volunteer was killed in a drive-by shooting in Yala’s Raman district on Saturday morning, said Pol Lt-Col Ampai Chumchuay, deputy chief of Raman police station.
Witnesses told police that Abdulrosek Sata, 42, a defence volunteer in Yala’s Raman district, was driving a motorcycle back home on the local road at Ban Pulai in tambon Balor when he was shot by a gunman riding pillion on another motorcycle. The attackers then fled.
Abdulroseh took several bullets in his back and died on the spot.
Police blamed separatist militants.
