DSI alleges GT200 deceit

The Department of Special Investigation claims the manufacturer of the controversial GT200 and Alpha 6 bomb detectors intentionally deceived Thailand to sell its devices.

DSI chief Tarit Pengdith said the DSI's findings showed the manufacturer had set out to lure potential buyers into buying its devices from the beginning.

It came as no surprise that Thailand fell victim to the manufacturer as 20 other countries, including Britain, had also been deceived, he said at a press conference.

“DSI chief Tarit Pengdith said the DSI's findings showed the manufacturer had set out to lure potential buyers into buying its devices from the beginning”. How in the hell is this a revelation? That is what every manufacturer does with its product or service, from food vendors to politicians. Buyers, especially repeat buyer, beware!
“Mr Tarit announced the DSI's findings yesterday after a meeting with 13 state agencies that purchased the bomb detectors. The devices were found to be ineffective in detecting explosives”. Here lies the culprit, the 13 state agencies and the army generals who to this day defend the piece of plastic and their decision to purchase. If someone is selling kayaks with a record of half of them not floating or suddenly sinking, who’s at fault? Also, follow the money trail!

I'm starting to get suspicious of that whole Piltdown Man thing, too.

Please make public the list of these 13 agencies and those who ordered & approved them. They are the ones who put our soldiers in Harm's way.

We all know why the generals are still claiming these pieces of junk are effective, its's all about face......and the few extra coins they pocketed personally from the deal

It is a scandal and very likely money changed hands to get the orders for these useless devices. The saddest thing is that people were probably killed because they did not work.

We can debate and discuss this till the end of our lives, but the issue is lacking a simple common-sense which we all have; when the stuff we buy, does not function or malfunctions, we simply go back, to the seller, make a complaint and get it exchanged for a better one. In this case it appears there are so many strings attached that we are embarrassingly keeping quiet.

The government and especially the army should carefully note the sage advice of "Buyer Beware". The US military apparently did and refused to purchase these useless items. Rather than wasting time suing the makers, root out the incompetents who assessed and approved them and fire them. Do not just transfer them to inactive posts but make them truly accountable for their incompetence.

The manufacturer of this fake bomb detector was arrested and imprisoned for deception in England about a year ago. Concerned news is widely broadcasted on tv news channel and newspaper. It is amazing for the thai army still insists saying that the bomb detectors worked effectively.

The good old General will not accept this finding. He's say it has been proved the GT200 works 25% of the time therefore it is effective.

But what he wont admit that tossing a coin has the same success rate.
