Yingluck, Abhisit will join forum on unrest

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and opposition and Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva will come together for a forum on tackling the southern violence.

Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung yesterday said the prime minister had ordered him to extend an invitation to the Democrat leader and the party's southern MPs to attend a meeting on the unrest.

He has agreed to chair the meeting next Tuesday at Government House.

Disc32 - Seriously? Domdunn? Are you bringing up the Rice policy as a success? Despite the billions in losses? Despite the HUGE amounts of graft? Despite the loss of Thailand's place as the number one rice exporter in the world?

If you are claiming that as a Peua Thai success, I understand why we never see eye to eye.

Disc30 Android - Finally! Now let me show you what I mean... Not a single one of those items is linked to a single Peua Thai policy!!! Those have been achieved DESPITE this government's ineptitude and obsession with helping the Shinawatras.

Give the following a grade - Southern Insurgency, Rice Policy, Fuel Policy, Nepotism, Cronyism, Reducing LM Cases, Censorship, Last Year's Floods, THIS Year's Floods, Iranian Terrorism, Graft, Women's Fund, Tablet Computers... THESE are all the failures of Peua Thai. The numbers you posted have NO relevance to Peua Thai's work at all. Got any 'actual facts' on those?

You ask if a red supporter can come up with a PT success story, well one's view of success depends on who you are, one man's success is another man's failure.

For example, there is a headline in today's 'Breaking News' that runs "Survey: Farmers love rice pledging", so I guess from their perspective it counts as a success story and from yours it probably should appear in "Heartbreaking News".

I love your idea of Yingluck at her wits end turning to the Abhisit for help, but I doubt that Yingluck is naive enough to expect any help from the Abhisit or the Dems on a Southern peace strategy.

If the PT government were to be successful in bringing peace to the South it would seriously weaken the Dems vote base down there and Abhisit cannot allow that to happen.

orange Dis#27 , give yourself a big hypocritical "Chinese Peace Award" and then tell the world all about it , as your fellow people are being flooded by a flood that was promised not to be ?
Seemed to have worked for her , imagin what she will recieve if she actualy turns up in the flesh , for the duration of the first meeting ?
I wonder if she will even speak by herself , na ka ?
    There`s a first time for everything i guess ?
I think AV has about "500 million" questions to ask of her ?

I would love to have a transcript of what Yingluck contributes to this meeting.

    "Erm ... I'm not sure."

"Erm ... I'd have to check on that"

"Erm ... I agree with everybody else"

I'll bet Abhisit despairs over what Thaksin has done to Thailand.

Valid point, the Democrats appear to foster Nationalist sentiment. It will be interesting to see what materializes from a joint forum on unrest. People admire success and since winning the election the PM has gained a lot of admiration not least for her commitment to restore peace in the southern region. Bringing all sides together can only be seen as a constructive move in the right direction for a lasting political solution to restore peace.

according to "like" or "not like" by Bposters, I think people didn't understand irony.
Of course, I don't agree with #11 Ian because I think he is one of the less sensible of us...
