Yutthasak expects more defections

Another group of insurgents may turn themselves in to the authorities before the end of this month, Deputy Prime Minister Yutthasak Sasiprapa said on Tuesday.

Gen Yutthasak, who is in charge of security affairs, said that of the 93 rebels who surrendered on Sept 11 to 4th Army commander Lt-Gen Udomchai Thammasarorach only three were subject to legal proceedings under the Criminal Procedures Act. The rest were found to have only violated the emergency decree.

Some of them had already received the penalties due under the law for their offences, he said.

So how can the Army call these 90 people "insurgents" if they were not involved with any shootings or bombs?
