A home-made bomb was found hidden in a trash can in Muang district of Yala province on Wednesday morning and was safely defused.

Police said a patrol from the 43rd Rangers Regiment noticed a suspicious object in a white garbage bin at Tuebo intersection in tambon Sateng Nok of Muang district about 6.30am.

A police bomb disposal team was rushed to the spot and cut all radio communication and telephone signals before examining the object, which was found to be an improvised bomb weighing about 5 kilogrammes.
