A security guard for a drug rehabilitation centre in Pattani was shot dead in Muang district on Monday morning.
Police said the shooting occurred about 7.25am on Samakki road in the Pattani municipal area.
Somchai Aebklinchan, 38, was returning home on a motorcycle from the drug rehabilitation centre and was followed by men on another motorcycle who opened fire at him with handguns.
Somchai was hit many times in the head and body and died on the spot.
Police were investigating.
