M79s fired at Tak Bai checkpoint

Militants fired two M79 grenades at a checkpoint on the Tak Bai-Narathiwat road in Narathiwat's Tak Bai district on Wednesday night, but both missed the target, police said.

The attack occurred on the eve of the eight anniversary of the Oct 25, 2004 Tak Bai massacre,

The first grenade exploded at the front gate of a building housing a village waterworks system, causing a hole about four inches deep and eight inches in diametre.

    It doesn't matter the reason for the attack. It matters that the seem to attack without being stopped. perhaps all checkpoints should like miltary camps have all motorbike riders dismount perhaps even 300 meters away and walk to the check points. failure to dismount will attract live fire.
