Chalerm: Govt won’t invoke special law for Pitak Siam rally

Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung said the government will use peaceful means to ensure law and order during the planned anti-government rally on Nov 24 at the Royal Plaza, without invoking any special law.

Mr Chalerm insisted that authorities will refrain from using force against the supporters of the Pitak Siam group, which plans a mass protest against the government.

He said national police chief Adul Saengsingkaew will be responsible for overseeing the protest and maintaining law and order during the rally.

To invoke special law against the rally, red shirts rally against Pitat Siam group...these are all pretexts that the army can start another coup.

What does these people rally against? The bad school system? The corruption? Bad traffic manners? The rice pledging? Flooding problems? Are they interested in politics at all?

How can it be so many rich people that it have to be 50 000 policemen watching them?

Are they rally against a legal elected government just for peanuts given from the dems and the yellows?

50,000 police to watch the rally, who is watching the rest of Thailand to prevent crime?

You know, I know and Chalerm knows that NO other group of protestors can be as violence prone as the reds. The red leaders threatened violence, promised violence and delivered violence. If at all, this protest gets violent, the initiation of violence would have to come from the reds.

Sorry, I just don't understand why Thai newspapers always report quotes from officials who won't give names or 'decline to give further details.' If they won't give details, then it's just GOSSIP! Unreliable sources. News Reporters are responsible to give FACTS.

What if the people put blood in front of Chalerm's house , occupy free TV stations and hospitals, block and search private cars , burn Paragon and Thaksin's house , siege parliament and government house and incite violence and hatred from the stage ? Would that be illegal this time ?

Hopefully this will be a peaceful demonstration against the Shinawatra government.
But let’s just think about what would happen if these demonstrators would also erect lots of street barricades? What would happen if the demonstrators have lots of armed “guards”? And what would happen if some men in black with war weapons would be mixed in between them. Will Chalerm still use peaceful means to ensure law and order? Like I said, I hope all is peaceful but it would be interesting to see how this government would handle a violent mob which threatens to burn down Bangkok.

Last month they said that Gen Boonlert would not attract 2000 people.. now they need 50000 policemen to control the rally on the 24th.....

Why he wants the government to invoke the Internal Security Law...is he afraid???
