Police want soldiers backing them at rally

The national police chief is proposing the government use the Internal Security Act (ISA) to contain the anti-government protest planned by the Pitak Siam group in Bangkok on Saturday.

Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew said he would propose to the National Security Council (NSC) Monday that it implement the security act to cope with the rally.

Use of the act, if approved, would empower the prime minister to order soldiers to bring the rally under control to maintain security.

It's the Courts who decide if a government is run by proxy. This current one obviously is,as testified by Chalerm. Prepare yourself for party dissolution of Peua Thaksin Party and a new government.

D 33 I think you are missing the point here
D 35 Well Said totally agree

The Chief Of Police is a clever person as he wants the soldiers called out so when things go wrong he can blame them

    Disc 33

I actually agree with you, but not for the reason you might think.

Personally, I detest Thaksin and his mob. But, I don't like the intentions of Siam Pitak, either. If they did manage to bring down the government, it would only strengthen the Thaksin gangsters and we'd never get rid of them.

This government should complete its term. The longer Yingluck is PM, the more irrelevant Thaksin becomes. I want the country to suffer the full extent of the rape and pillage that the PTP will inflict on it over the next few years. Then hopefully, Thais will have had enough of these criminals.

@Disc 11 : Agreed But coming from an administration who 'fired k Dusadee and k Damrong, two of the best graft busters this country has ever seen, I wouldn't hold your breath.

ps The other lot are no better.

Boonlert's claim that the PT government is a 'failed' proxy of Thaksin shows that he is out of step with the majority. 60% of people questioned in recent polls want PT to complete its term, that is far more than voted PT in the last election.

Two legs good, four legs better !!!

Not that long ago,PTP and UDD strongly condemned using the Army against peaceful protesters.

  • Discussion 30 : 19 Nov 2012 at 13.4630

Can the army claim this government is out of control? The government wants to put 50,000 (mostly pro government) police on the street to control a group with a peaceful record. And now the Shinawatra government claims 50,000 police officers need support from the army because the government fears they can’t handle the job. Yes, I think the army would be right when they say this government is out of control.

The gang of four (TS, PT, UDD and RS) are clearly losing their marbles even before the Pitak Siam demonstration on 24th Nov. For the Police Chief to suggest publicly that the Army “help” in their crowd control duty is very unusual indeed. Of course, PM and her gang of “senior security advisors” didn’t instigate this suggestion. Is it going to be 2010, part 2, or just shadow boxing by “puppet masters” from both sides of the aisles? Whichever ways one looks at this situation, it’s the business and general public that will be the biggest losers. “Power Corrupts and Absolute Power Corrupts Absolutely” – Orwell

Maybe if the police put the same enthusiasm into doing their jobs as they do collecting protection money and running casinos the job wouldn't seem so challenging .
