South forces hunt for stolen vehicles

Security forces in the deep South have been warned to look for six stolen vehicles that may be used in bomb attacks by the Muslim insurgency, especially during the New Year holiday.

Of the six vehicles, three are registered in Songkhla province, two in Yala and the sixth in Pattani, according to  a southern security intelligence agency.

The Songkhla-registered vehicles include a grey Honda Civic (Kor Por 6548), a bronze Toyota Vigo (Bor Wor 1156) and an Isuzu two-seat pickup truck with extended roof at the back (Por Kor 4883).

The Yala-registered vehicles are a grey Mazda Fighter (Bor Jor 2482) and a silver bronze Isuzu Dmax (Bor Ror 7934). The sixth is a brown Isuzu four-seat pickup (Bor Tor 9179).

A source at the intelligence agency said the suspicious vehicles were stolen recently by suspected militants. Security officials and local administrative officers have been alerted to look especially for the six stolen vehicles and have set up checkpoints on both city and non-city roads in the three southern border provinces.
