Isoc officers transferred over Rohingya

Two army officers attached to the southern area Region 4 office of the Internal Security Operations Command (Isoc), suspected of being involved in the smuggling of Royingha migrants into the country, have been transferred out of the area, an army source said.

The source said Lt-Gen Udomchai Thammasaroraj, the Fourth Army commander, signed an order to transfer the two -- a lieutenant colonel and a lieutenant -- although in an investigation there was no evidence to confirm their involvement in the trafficking of the illegal immigrants.

"However, they have been transferred out of the area to prevent further problems because there had been complaints against them," the source said.

It would be of interest to know why the TAO officials have not been interrogated. According to the statement quoted they were involved in people smuggling!

Allowing officials (in and out of uniform) to blatantly break the law and then be treated as special people not subject to the law is a recipe for social disaster.

Inactive posts have such a great track record of discouraging crime by Thai officials in uniforms that this program needs to be expanded.

Why not offer it to murderers, rapists, thieves and every other criminal as an alternative to prison? Those crime rates will then surely plummet to about the same historic lows as corruption by Thai officials.

.'...but there was no evidence of a third country they were to be sent to'... This is my favorite line. ISOC apparently has no information that previous boatloads of Rohingya have been been smuggled across the border into Malaysia via Sadao. They don't know moneyless Rohingya are sold to the fishing fleets. They have no idea how to use Google. For goodness sake, who wrote this drivel?

An accused is still innocent until proven guilty.... How can these two army officers be charge of human trafficking when their role was to allow these rohingya pass through here (Thailand) going to Malaysia. These two officers did not recruited these tribes from Myanmar and bring them here or to Malaysia to work in factories.It was these tribes who escape from their country and came here to seek for shelter or refuge.. I mean we should not be quick to condemn them without proper investigation. Not unless these two officers are rohingya from Myanmar..///

Let them sit inactive somewhere else. There are complaints against them but no evidence against them.Well! In that case the army better prepare for litigation by these two army officers.
Complaints most likly came from people,evidences mostly from official if they want to investigate. Chance are slim .It will be "Loop Na Pa Jamuke" Some one higher up will get hurt if being investigated.

"Two army officers --------- have been transferred out of the area, an army source said." That can be construed as a promotion, transferred out of a danger zone. Great punishment, way to discipline your men sir. I guess jail never came to mind? Oh, no, that's for ordinary folks breaking the law, sorry I forgot.
