Chalerm denies gun attack link

Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung has denied involvement in Saturday's gun attack on four cars belonging to the ASTV Manager newspaper.

Mr Chalerm was the focus of media attention yesterday after Jittanart Limthongkul, ASTV-Manager Group's chief executive officer, said a close aide to a powerful figure connected to the police force could have been involved in the attack.

The deputy prime minister said he had nothing to gain from the attack and has never harboured any ill-will toward yellow-shirt leader Sondhi Limthongkul, the founder of the ASTV-Manager Group.

"it would be a challenge because the company is involved in many disputes." Just as Chalerm has been for his entire career.

These are the same intimidation tactics used by the fugitive during his previous dictatorships.

This is actually a minor criminal case that involved damaging other's properties. It does not deserve a high profile investigation.

Who is being targeted by the far-right PAD (ASTV)?

Obviously the BKK governor election springs to mind. The incumbent is a far-right, the underdog was a top policeman. The beneficiary of this hoo-ha could be Sukumband?

    Who did the shootings?

Doesn't help that ASTV hired the visual and hearing impaired as security guards. But it seems the owner's son had one finger pointing at the police, and three pointing back at himself. Wonder why he is so confident of the culprits' identity when no evidence has been revealed yet.

The baseless accusations by ASTV/Manager have officially started.
