Ratree tells of life in prison

Thai Patriots Network activist Ratree Pipattanapaiboon has talked about her experience while serving two years out of a six-year prison term in Cambodia on charges of illegal entry, spying and entering a military area without permission. Three days after being granted a royal pardon, Ms Ratree looked back at her gruelling time behind bars after she and six other Thais, were arrested on Dec 29, 2010. She spoke to ASTV's Kon Cha Thueng Chan (Before Monday) TV show on Sunday night. Here are excerpts from her interview.

Ratree: Barred from talking to inmates

How is your health? It's fine, though I've lost about 5kg in weight. It's because I'm a vegetarian and usually had one meal a day. Moreover, I've refrained from eating dessert since last year. Not having sweets is one of my dhamma practices.

Had this woman not put in prison, she shouldn't know yet how to cook her own food until now, she shouldn't also realised how VIP she was and how Cambodia treat their foreign prisoners. Lastly, had she not been arrested, she never had known who those friends she could rely on . Friends that are ready to offer help when you're in need. Unfortunately, it seems she still need to learn how to respect others rights and accepts that she can not get everything she wanted. When will she ever learn the reality that they are the root cause why these two nations are fighting.. too much damaged has been done, a lot of life lost during the fights..

' I was living with only three other female inmates of good class.' What is meant by good class in Thai society?

"I will continue the way I have been going."
Yellow PAD had totally brainwashed this unfortunate woman. She won't be so lucky next time.

Khun Banned #1, so, how should she be "thinking globally?" Were the Brit "thinking globally" when they sailed halfway around the world to wage a bloody war to retake the Falklands from Argentina, or China invaded Tibet, or waged a bloody war to settle a border dispute with its old comrade, Vietnam?

Did she give ASTV owners (PAD leaders) a big "thank you" for sending her to jail?

She seems unrepentant about her ultra-nationalistic ways, and looks very much a recalcitrant offender (I would not be suprised she gets caught a third time).

didn't know how to cook, with people of good class. Wow.
Did you get angry with the Abhisit Vejjajiva government?
Yes, but not because they did not help us. I'm angry because they did not do enough to protect the country's sovereignty.
As I can see the Thai sovereignty is intact. Ratree needs to mix more start thinking globally. Maybe cooking classes.
