Maj Gen Kitti Intasorn is being tipped to succeed Udomchai Thammasaroraj as the 4th Army commander in the military reshuffle next month, an army source says.
Maj Gen Kitti, currently the 4th Army deputy commander, is reportedly backed by army chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha who prefers someone familiar with southern problems to replace Lt Gen Udomchai, who will retire in October this year. Lt Gen Udomchai is expected to be deployed out of the South prior to his retirement.
Other candidates for the post include Maj Gen Kampanat Ruddit, deputy chief of the 1st Army, and Lt Gen Walit Rojanapakdi, assistant chief-of-staff.
