Prayuth assesses security status in South
Army chief says some opposed to peace effort

Army commander Prayuth Chan-ocha yesterday travelled to the troubled far South for a situation briefing, a week after the government signed an agreement to initiate peace talks with a rebel group.
The army chief said the visit was to bring himself up to speed on the changing situation in the region.
He acknowledged the security situation remained fluid.
