Bomb kills boy, maims others while Sukumpol in South

An 8-year-old boy was killed and 10 people were wounded by a bomb detonated in the heart of Pattani township on Thursday afternoon while Defence Minister Sukumpol Suwanatat was leading a press tour to the far South.

The explosion damaged the ice cream shop, seven cars and three motorcycles and shattered windows in 10 nearby buildings, including the probation office and police cooperative shop.

The correct term for citizens taking part in an armed rebellion against the constituted authority is "insurgent". There is no universally agreed definition of "terrorism", one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter or jihadist.

Thailand's lack of solving this for way past a decade!the only team you need in the south is based in the UK.it is the S.A.S.SPECIAL OPS.it needs a totally independent force down there.
sadly this country could never appear to loose face by allowing this.
the result of this obvious incompetence = Thailand is now considered yet another terrorist black spot.
do we await these terrorists to emerge in Bangkok.if they do and it is quite probable.
you may as well write off Thailand as anyone's investment or holiday location.(apart from Russians
home from home for them!)

And Khun Chalerm - that well known frequent visitor to the south - was doing what today? I do not much care for ACM Sukumpol but at least he visits. Perhaps it would be better to transfer Khun Chalerm's south responsibilities (which he does not want anyway) to the ACM. At least the men and women on the ground would get a visit and some encouragement instead of an absentee overlord they never see
