The Corrections Department has transferred two high-profile separatist convicts from a maximum security prison in Songkhla to a jail in their home province of Yala.
Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung, on his maiden visit to the deep South, arrives at the Southern Border Provinces Administrative Centre (SBPAC) to hold talks with representatives from the public and private sectors and Islamic leaders. The deputy prime minister, greeted by SBPAC chief Thawee Sodsong, fourth from right, was escorted by a security team of which his son Duang Yubamrung, far right, is a member.
The two inmates are Buedo Betong, 74, and Ismael Gaddafi, alias Sama-ae Thanam, 61, both former key figures of the Patani United Liberation Organisation (Pulo).
