Two rubber tappers were shot and killed in an ambush on a local road near a rubber plantation in Pattani’s Yaring district early Saturday morning.
They were identified as Ma-air Jehma, 45, and his wife Ameenoh Kama, 42.
Witnesses told police that the couple was traveling on a motorcycle to their plantation along the local road at Ban Dusong Payae in tambon Torlang when gunmen hiding in the roadside forest fired on them with shotguns. The assailants then fled.
Ma-air and Ameenoh were shot in the head and body and died on the spot.
Police were investigating.
