Two rangers injured in South bombing

Two paramilitary rangers were injured in a roadside bombing in Narathiwat's Rangae district on Friday morning, police said.

Pol Lt Chayut Kaeawnui, a duty officer at Rangae police station, said the bomb went off when a team of nine paramilitary rangers were patrolling along a local road  about 200 metres from their base.

Sitthichoke Laokok, 24, lost part of his right foot to the blast. Ares Yakor, 34, suffered chest pains. They were rushed to Rangae hospital.

Police said a group of insurgents hiding behind roadside trees detonated the 10-kilogramme bomb placed inside a metal box, with a cell phone.
