A paramilitary ranger was shot and killed and his two younger sisters seriously injured in a shooting in Muang district of Pattani province on Tuesday morning.
Pol Col Tuande Chutanand, chief of Muang Pattani police station, said the attack occurred about 7am at house No 88 in Moo 3 of tambon Klong Maning.
According to witnesses, the ranger, Abdulrorhim Mali, 31, and his sisters were sitting in front of the house when gunmen arrived on a pickup truck fired at them with assault rifles and then fled.
Abdulrorhim and, his sisters, Fadila, 27, and Sinap, 23, were shot in their bodies and taken to Pattani hospital. The ranger was later pronounced dead.
Police were investigating.
