Narathiwat roadside bomb injures three policemen

Three policemen were seriously wounded by a bomb blast in Narathiwat's Chanae district yesterday, police said.

The policemen were part of a patrol which was on its way to Ban Kumong in tambon Chang Phuak to investigate another bomb explosion earlier in the morning.

As they approached the village, a bomb hidden next to the road in front of Ban Nam Won School was detonated remotely. Pol L/Cpl Fu-adi Chemu, Pol L/Cpl Sarawut Prommoon and Pol L/Cpl Habari Yama were seriously wounded in the explosion.

They were rushed to Narathiwat Ratchanakarin Hospital.

The bomb which exploded had targeted a 12-strong ranger patrol, which escaped unhurt.
