Two rangers killed by bomb in Yala

Two rangers were killed by a bomb explosion at a rubber plantation in Yala's Yaha district on Monday evening, police said.

Pol Col Akhom Buathong, the Yaha police chief, said the plantation where the bomb exploded is only about 100 metres from the base of Rangers Company 4711, which is  on the opposite side of the Yaha - Kabang road.

The explosionoccurred about 5.30pm after two rangers - Kwanchai Klinboon and Prapan Krualao - who were just back from a patrol went across the road to the plantation to fetch water for a bath from a well near a hut used for processing latex.

A home-made bomb, believed to have been planted earlier near the well, went off.  The explosion killed the two rangers.
