2 hurt in Narathiwat bomb blast

Two women were hurt and a military truck damaged when a bomb exploded in Rueso district of Narathiwat province Wednesday, police said.

The incident occurred around noon near Lamo Nok village in tambon Rueso-ok.  While a six-wheel truck with a number of soldiers on board was crossing a bridge near the village, a homemade bomb weighing about 20kg detonated at one end of the bridge.

The explosion damaged the truck but the soldiers escaped unhurt.  Two female villagers riding on motorcycle ahead of the truck were hit in the abdomen by shrapnel.  They were admitted to Rueso Hospital.

The soldiers were returning to their base at Ban Lalo from a meeting of Narathiwat Task Force 30.
