A man and his wife were shot dead in a gun attack in Yala's Yaha district on Sunday, police said.
Pol Lt Pratchaya Hethak, the duty officer at Yaha police station, was informed of the incident at about 10.20am.
According to witnesses, Lert Chaisangad, 62, and his wife Tim Thongsongkaew, 55, were travelling on a motorcycle from tambon Lam Phak Chi in Yaha district to sell vegetables in Khok Pho district of Pattani. They were followed by two men on another motorcycle.
At Ban Chopunae, the two men opened fire at them with pistols before speeding away.
The couple were killed on the spot.
