2 wounded in Yala gun attack

Two members of a village defence team were wounded when their security booth was attacked by a group of militants in Yala's Bannang Sata district late on Saturday night, police said.

Pol Lt Sulgifli Raso, a duty officer at Bannang Sata district, said the incident took place at about 10.45pm when a group of militants arrived on a pickup truck in front of the security booth at Ban Bannang Kuwae and opened fire.

Yamama Hengdada, 41, and Asae Niseng, 40, both assistants to the village chief, were each hit in the right leg. They were admitted to Bannang Sata Hospital.
