Stolen rifles recovered in Pattani

Two rifles and ammunition were found in the grass at a football field in a village in Pattani's Sai Buri district on Wednesday, police said.

Pol Col Panya Karawanant, the Sai Buri police chief, said the a team of police, rangers and local officials combed the area, in tambon Paluka Samo of Pattani's Bacho district, on information garnered from two suspected militants arrested on Dec 12.

They found an AK102 rifle and a carbine rifle, and 26 rounds of ammunition.

A records check showed the AK102 was stolen along with a 9mm pistol from two defence volunteers shot dead by militants in Kapho district of Pattani on Dec 21, 2011.
