A homemade bomb exploded on a rural road in Panare district of Pattani province Monday, but inflicted no casualties, police said.
Pol Lt Col Somsak Nitem, deputy chief of Panare district police, said a team of ordnance-disposal police were despatched to the road between Pho Ming and Bang Klang villages on being informed of the blast about noon.
The bomb, weighing about 15kg, was put in a steel box and planted on a road side near Pho Ming village.
It was detonated via radio when a patrol of eight rangers from the 42nd Rangers Regiment was passing the spot, but the explosion did not hurt anyone.
