A policeman was wounded by the explosion of a bomb which targeted a patrol providing security for teachers travelling to schools in Muang district of Pattani province on Wednesday morning.
Pol Col Kirati Waeyuso, the Muang district police chief, said the incident occurred about 8.20am on Pattani - Yala highway in tambon Pakarahang.
The patrol compromised six policemen travelling one pick-up truck and two motorcycles. The bomb was hidden by a roadside tree and was detonated remotely as they passed the spot, police said.
Pol Lance Corposal Chakrapong Buakaew, 23, was hit by shrapnel in the left leg. He was admitted to Pattani Hospital.
