Prawit to visit Russia April 16-17

Russia invited Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwon to visit April 16-17 for an anti-terrorism meeting and to promote better bilateral relations.

Russian ambassador to Bangkok Kirill Barsky sent the invitation while meeting Gen Prawit at Government House Friday.

Defence spokesman Khongcheep Tantrawanit said they discussed military cooperation and bilateral relations through exchanges of visits, inspections and educational partnerships of military officers at different levels.

They also discussed trade and investment cooperation with Russia ready to buy Thai farm products including rice and natural rubber, the spokesman said.

In the meeting, Gen Prawit proposed both countries set up a working group to discuss the details of bilateral cooperation and mutually beneficial government-to-government projects.
