The Foreign Ministry is preparing to evacuate Thai nationals in Yemen and bring them back to Thailand as fighting in the Middle Eastern country looks likely to turn more violent, the ministry's Information Department announced on Sunday.
The ministry has ordered the Thai embassy in Muscat, Oman, whose area of jurisdiction also covers Yemen, to closely monitor the fighting, particularly in Aden.
The embassy has also been instructed to warn Thais, especially students, in Yemen to avoid areas prone to danger.
Thai nationals in Yemen who wish to return to Thailand are urged by the Muscat embassy to send their names and last names, telephone numbers, e-mail addresses and other information to its email address thaimct@omantel.net.com and panida@gmail.com. They can also call hotline numbers (+968) 9469 4703 or (+968) 9927 3440.
They are urged to join the evacuation to Thailalnd or travel to Oman for safety.
Most of them live in Tarim, about 800km from Aden.
The ministry said it believed they were safe.
