Eight bombings kill six in South

Six persons were killed and 11 injured in eight separate bomb attacks from late Friday to Saturday morning in the restive southern provinces of Narathiwat, Songkhla and Yala.

Six bombings took place in Sungai Golok district, Narathiwat province, between 7pm and 7.30pm on Friday, the Internal Security Operations Command (Isoc) reported on Saturday.

Large firecrackers were thrown into Jenny Kitchen and Pat Grill restaurants on Luk Sua Nusorn Road but no one was injured.

A bomb also went off in front of Top Asia Hotel on Soi Pracha Vivat 2, wounding eight people.

Shortly after midnight, fires broke out in three places — near the Somchai auto-parts shop on Pracha Vivat Road, the Thai construction material shop on Pracha Vivat Soi 1 and the Saeng Charoen wholesale store on a road behind Genting Market. Three people were killed.

In Padang Besar of Songkhla's Sadao district, improvised bombs planted in a motorcycle went off in front of the Krok Thong karaoke shop, killing three and injuring three.

At 7pm on Saturday, a bomb went off in Yala's Than To subdistrict, damaging eight electric poles and causing blackouts in a number of areas.
