Two people were killed and at least 10 others injured by six explosions in Rangae district of Narathiwat province on Thursday night.

Speaking on twitter, police spokesman Pol Lt Gen Prawut Thavornsiri said two bombs went off near Wat Sangkhasitthitharam. The first was meant to lure people to the scene, and then the second bomb exploded and injured the gathering villagers.

The third explosion occurred in front of the nearby Tanyongmas cooperative and the fourth was in front of a branch office of TOT Plc. All the locations are in Tanyongmas sub-district.

The third blast was a motorcycle bomb that went off when paramilitary rangers were walking towards the scene of the first two explosions. It killed a ranger and a villager and wounded others. The fourth explosion near a local railway track was later found out to be a big firecracker.

The four explosions occurred between 7.20pm and 8pm. Fourteen people were injured, including four paramilitary officers.

Two more bombs exploded in Tanyongmas about 9.20pm but caused no casualties.
